EDMOND (April 17) --
Jordan Mullin's two-run home run in the eighth inning capped a long-ball display that carried surging Central Oklahoma to a 15-4 run-rule rout of Lone Star Conference leader Tarleton State here Sunday to give the Bronchos a surprising three-game series sweep of the No. 18-ranked Texans.

UCO, which won 4-1 and 6-2 on Saturday, belted five homers and had three pitchers limit Tarleton to six hits in the runaway win.

The Bronchos improved to 17-22 overall and 11-19 in the LSC while dropping the Texans to 29-10 and 18-9.

"Anytime you can sweep a weekend it's pretty special, but to do it at home against the number one team in our conference is big league," UCO coach Dax Leone said.  "Our guys flat out executed them in every phase of the game and they deserve every bit of the credit."

The Bronchos jumped out to a 5-0 first-inning lead, watched Tarleton come back to within 6-4 after six innings and then blew the game open.  UCO upped its lead to 8-4 in the seventh and then erupted for seven runs in the eighth to end the game early on the 10-run rule, with Mullin's two-run blast the final blow.

Ryan Schoonover and Austin Rycroft had two-run homers in the five-run first that gave the Bronchos the early lead and Kevin Blue added a solo blast in the third to make it 6-2.

Kade Kauk's two-run double in the seventh answered Tarleton's comeback that had pulled the Texans within 6-4, with Tyler Hancock ripping a two-run homer and Arrow Cunningham a two-RBI double in the eighth before Mullin's game-ending round tripper.

Hancock, Blue, Kauk, Rycroft and Cunnigham had two hits apiece to lead UCO's 14-hit attack.  Aaron Rosborough earned the pitching win, giving up two hits and no runs in 4 1/3 innings of relief work.
