SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (Feb. 28) -- Dillon Rust led a trio of under-par individuals for Central Oklahoma as the No. 7-ranked Bronchos opened the 2011 spring campaign at the weather-plagued Coyote Classic here Monday.

Frost delayed the start by nearly two hours and teams were able to finish only 24 of their scheduled 36 holes in the two-day, 54-hole event.  UCO was second after one full round at one-under-par 279, trailing top-ranked Chico State by just one shot.

No. 8 Sonoma State is third in the 17-team tournament at 287.  Teams are scheduled to play 30 holes Tuesday, with tee times dependent on the weather.

Rust fired a two-under 68 to pace the Bronchos, with Colby Shrum and Andrew Green both shooting 69s.  Josh Creel added a 73 and Baer Aneshansley had a 79, while Matt Charlson (72) and Logan Waresback (80) competed as individuals.

"It's hard to stay patient when you have delays, but I thought our guys did a great job of that and we got off to a good start," UCO coach Dax Johnston said.  "It was a long day and it will be even longer tomorrow, so we have to keep our focus."
