AUSTIN, Texas (March 1) -- Central Oklahoma struggled on the first day of the season-opening St. Edward's Invitational here Monday, with a bunch of big numbers leading to a 345 total at Grey Rock Golf Club.
The Bronchos are 11th in the 17-team field heading into Tuesday's final round, but are just three shots out of eighth. Tarleton State had an impressive 311 to open up a 14-stroke lead over host St. Edward's.
"We started off pretty good, but we had a lot of bad holes and our scores really soared after the wind picked up and the temperature dropped," UCO coach Michael Bond said. "We didn't do a very good job finishing the round, but hopefully we'll come out tomorrow and play like we're capable."
All five UCO players shot between 85 and 89, with Raelynn Farthing's 85 the low score. Maria Jimenez shot 86, while Cassy Knight and Emily Leahey both had 87s and Erica Bensch an 88.
