EDMOND (Oct. 11) – So much for Central Oklahoma's home shutout streak.

The Bronchos didn't allow a goal in winning their first six home games this season, but that statistic went out the window early and Abilene Christian handed UCO a 4-2 Lone Star Conference setback Sunday afternoon at Wantland Stadium.

The Wildcats, who scored just 15 goals in their first 12 games, took the lead six minutes into the contest and then broke a 2-2 tie with two spectacular scores in the final 14 minutes as the Bronchos lost for just the second time in their last 12 outings.

UCO fell to 10-5-1 overall and 4-2 in the league, while ACU improved to 8-4-1 and 3-1-1.

“Abilene took it to us and we didn't play well enough to win,” head coach Mike Cook said.   “We've played really good defensively the last few weeks, but we made way too many mistakes on that end today.”

ACU's took a 1-0 lead just 5:56 into the game, though the Bronchos drew even in the 14th minute on Katelyn Cropp's shot from 30 yards away that barely sailed over the goalkeeper's outstretched hands.

It stayed a 1-1 tie until the 56th minute when ACU's Krysta Grimm tapped in a rebound shot from point-blank range, with UCO coming back to tie it again 11 minutes later.

Brittni Walker did the honors this time for the Bronchos, taking a pass from Summer White and rifling in her seventh goal of the season from 15 yards out.

UCO goalkeeper Megan Riley had two nice saves in a one-minute span to keep the game deadlocked at 2, but the Wildcats went in front to stay in the 77th minute and then added an insurance goal with just 2:48 left to play.

The Bronchos return to conference action Thursday, traveling to Ada to take on East Central.
