SHAWNEE, Okla. (Oct. 10) -- Evelyn Berko came in fifth in the individual standings to lead Central Oklahoma to a fifth-place finish in the Bison Invitational here Saturday.
The Bronchos, who were without junior standout Alina Istrate for the second straight meet, compiled 102 points in the eight-team event that host Oklahoma Baptist won with 35.
Berko tied her season best performance, touring the five-kilometer course in 20:03.00. Angelica Martinez was next for UCO, coming in 16th in 20:32.00.
The Bronchos also got top-30 showings from Cara Cox (26th, 21:02.00) and Hannah Pempsell (27th, 21:11.00), with Julia Crocker (31st, 21:25.00), Angel Vick (37th, 22:10.00) and Iasha Keller (38th, 22:16.00) rounding out the UCO team.
The Bronchos are off next week before going to Abilene, Texas Oct. 24 for the Lone Star Conference Championships.
